So much for a Supreme Court justice who would be a check on an overreaching, lawless, unitary executive. Let's go back to the really bad old days of the Bush/Cheney regime and that hallmark of it: torture.

Liberal groups are firing off yet another warning to Senate Democrats in the heated battle over Neil Gorsuch, urging the senators to ramp up their fight against President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee ahead of the confirmation hearings next week.

“A trucker was stranded on the side of the road, late at night, in cold weather, and his trailer brakes were stuck,” wrote appeals court judge Neil Gorsuch, last August, in a dissenting opinion that is apt to come up at his confirmation hearings next week for the open seat on the U.S. Supreme Court.

A broad coalition of abortion-rights groups will call on senators to oppose Neil Gorsuch at all costs in an effort to stoke liberal opposition to the Supreme Court nominee just days before his consequential confirmation hearings.

With the date nearing, progressive groups are beginning to get serious about the nominee, forming The People’s Defense―a new activist coalition aimed at bringing Gorsuch down at all costs. Or at least sounding the alarm about a nominee who even opponents say comes across as likable.
