The answer is blatant partisan attempts to draw maps that help one party cling to power by any means available.

Yet it’s clear, both from his blatant partisan activity and from today’s breezy and dismissive questioning, that Justice Gorsuch’s blatant political loyalties may threaten to undermine the legitimacy of the Court’s decision. Going forward, President Trump’s judicial nominees must face heavy scrutiny not just for their legal fitness, but for their political neutrality as well.”
